LeisureFit Booragoon Aquatic Centre

The LeisureFit Booragoon Aquatic Centre underwent a comprehensive $11.5 million refurbishment to modernise its facilities and enhance accessibility for the community.

The project was executed in two stages: renovations to the leisure pool began in late October 2023, followed by the 50-metre pool in March 2024. The centre remained operational throughout the construction phases, ensuring minimal disruption to services.

Donovan Payne Architects created the initial masterplan for a major redevelopment that included accessibility upgrades, a full renovation of the pool hall, improved wet and dry changing rooms with universal access, and modernized pool systems. The project aimed to enhance community access to aquatic services in the City of Melville, adding a new health and fitness suite, redesigned aquatic areas, upgraded carpark, improved storage and plant rooms, updated facades, new landscaping, and public spaces.

A significant component of the refurbishment was the upgrade of the changing facilities, including the installation of compact laminate toilet partitions and seating. Compact laminate, known for its durability, water resistance, and ease of maintenance, was selected to withstand the high-traffic environment typical of aquatic centres.
